Andrew James Williams
I have only been a resident of two states. I grew up in Lexington, KY and spent the last 10 years of my residence in Bowling Green, KY with a pit stop for high school in a small city called Campbellsville. I have lived in Memphis, TN for the last 9 years developing my technique, skills, experience, and interactions with a variety of individuals. I enjoy experiencing new things. I have spent time in 48 States experiencing national parks, road side attractions (both man-made as well as natural), cities (big and small), and various cultures with complex histories. I have traveled to Europe and Central America to add some historical experiences of our human ancestors. This combination of nature and Humans has created patterns of humanity and life that continue to be explored in my work today. I received a BFA in ceramics and a BA in Graphic Design from Western Kentucky University.
I received an MFA in Ceramics at The University of Memphis and upon graduation in May of 2012 took a job as a High School Visual Arts teacher in Memphis, TN. I enrolled in MAE courses at Memphis College of Art. I have taught all levels of Ceramics courses as well as Drawing and Art Appreciation on the college level. I have received a Governor's School for the Arts Toyota Grant, Donor's choose and maintain an exhibition record.
